Introduction

Argumenticons are kind of like emoticons for showing the structure of an argument or discussion.Template:Seedling

  • the argumenticons category is where we will keep all our argumenticon images and templates

Example

For practical use, we'll have templates... but here is an example of the general idea, for now:

wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=newpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-rt-25px.png img_alt=right arrow argumenticon </linkedimage> Stuff exists!

<linkedimage>

wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=supportpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-up-20px.png img_alt=up arrow argumenticon </linkedimage> Indeed, nothing could be more true!

<linkedimage>

wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=counterpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-dn-20px.png img_alt=down arrow argumenticon </linkedimage> That is an utter load of foetid dingo's kidneys!

<linkedimage>

wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=minor supportpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-up-15px.png img_alt=up arrow argumenticon </linkedimage> Even if stuff is a load of foetid dingo's kidneys, foetid dingo's kidneys do in fact exist and therefore so does stuff!

The same thing, with templates:

<linkedimage>

wikipage=Issuepedia:Debaticons tooltip=claim that is the main subject of a debate img_src=Image:Arrow-button-rt-20px.png img_alt=right arrow debaticon </linkedimage> Stuff exists!

Template:Arg.supportpoint
Template:Arg.counterpoint
Template:Arg.supportpoint

I'm going to leave all the support/counter icons the same size for now, at least until it becomes clear that we have a use for the other sizes.

Rules

Points are supporting (<linkedimage> wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=minor supportpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-up-15px.png img_alt=up arrow argumenticon </linkedimage>) if they support the current new point (<linkedimage> wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=newpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-rt-15px.png img_alt=right arrow argumenticon </linkedimage>). If a point supports the current counterpoint (<linkedimage> wikipage=Issuepedia:Argumenticons tooltip=counterpoint img_src=Image:Arrow-button-dn-15px.png img_alt=down arrow argumenticon </linkedimage>), then it is also a counterpoint. If it argues against the current counterpoint, then it is a supporting point.
